For Geo Engineers

Better Foundations

Optimize your pile designs for material efficiency, CO2 reduction, and code compliance using statistical soil modeling and automated design evaluation.

The system generates statistical soil layer models from your borehole data. Instead of relying on a single conservative profile, you get a probabilistic representation of the subsurface that captures the real variability across your site.

  • Automatic processing of borehole logs and CPT data
  • Statistical interpolation between investigation points
  • Probabilistic soil profiles that reflect real site conditions

Optimized foundation design that saves material, reduces carbon, and meets every code requirement.

What input data does the system need?

Standard borehole logs and CPT data in common formats. If your data is in PDF or spreadsheet form, we can process that too. The more investigation points you have, the more accurate the statistical soil model becomes, but the system works with as few as three boreholes.

How much material can realistically be saved?

It depends on the project, but typical savings range from 15% to 30% on pile concrete and steel compared to conventional conservative designs. The savings come from using probabilistic soil models instead of worst case assumptions, which allows you to design closer to actual site conditions while maintaining the same safety level.

Does this replace the geotechnical engineer?

No. This is a tool for geotechnical engineers, not a replacement. It handles the computational heavy lifting so the engineer can focus on interpreting results, applying judgment, and making decisions. The final design is always reviewed and approved by a qualified professional.

Which pile types does the system support?

Bored piles, driven piles, CFA piles, and micropiles. The optimization considers type specific installation effects and resistance models. If you work with a pile type that is not listed, contact us and we can discuss adding it.

How does the CO2 calculation work?

We use established emission factors for concrete, steel, and installation processes based on published lifecycle data. The system calculates the embodied carbon for each design variant and presents the results alongside structural performance and cost. This allows direct comparison of design alternatives on all three dimensions.

Can we use this for projects outside of Germany?

Yes. The Eurocode framework applies across Europe, and national annexes can be configured for different countries. We currently support the German, Austrian, and Dutch national annexes, with more being added. If your country is not yet supported, we can add the relevant annex within a few weeks.

Better foundations through data, not assumptions

Conservative pile design wastes material and increases carbon emissions because it assumes the worst case at every point. Our approach uses real soil data statistically to design foundations that are safer, leaner, and more sustainable.

Why partner with GSI Labs?

Practical Innovation

We do not build academic research tools. Piledesigner is built for practicing geotechnical engineers who need results they can submit to a checking authority.

Every output follows Eurocode 7, every calculation is traceable, and every design can be documented and defended. We test with real project data and iterate until the output matches professional standards.

Strategic Edge

While other firms still design piles based on single conservative soil profiles, your team optimizes across the full site variability.

This means less overdesign, lower costs for your clients, and a measurable sustainability advantage that sets your proposals apart in competitive tenders.

Industry DNA

Our team includes geotechnical engineers and software developers who understand the difference between a CPT and an SPT, who know what Eurocode 7 requires, and who have designed foundations themselves.

We speak your language from day one. No explaining what a pile load test is.
